Dimple Star bus company franchise is canceled – LTFRB

Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) canceled the franchise of Dimple Star Bus company following a dreadful accident.

It can be recalled that a bus of the said company fell off a cliff in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on March 20, 2018.

The sad incident caused the death of 19 persons and 21 others were wounded, based on the report published in Bandera.

LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III said that the agency made a deliberation regarding the said case.

“We are cancelling the franchise of the entire fleet of Dimple Star because of repetitive recklessness in their transport service. One death is already one too many,” Delgra stated.

He added that it is very vital for operators to reiterate to their drivers that the lives of their passengers are in their hands. Because of this, utmost care and precaution measures should be done.

The report also stated that President Rodrigo Duterte visited the site where the accident happened.

He ordered the LTFRB to give appropriate sanction to Dimple Star company regarding what happened.

The President also ordered the agency to check thoroughly the roadworthiness of the buses.

Initially, the agency brought out a 30-day preventive suspension of the Dimple Star buses traveling in Occidental Mindoro.

After a few days, the LTFRB canceled the 11 franchise of the said bus company with 118 units.

From 2011 to 2018, the agency has already recorded 8 road accidents involving the buses of Dimple Star.

29 lives were lost and 134 others were injured because of those accidents, based on the report.
