DOTr Launched Messenger Chatbot For Report Traffic Violators

Concerned Citizens Can Now Report Traffic Violators Via Messenger Chatbot Launched By DOTr In Collaboration With Inter-Agency Council for Traffic

DOTR – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) recently launched a Facebook Messenger chatbot made specifically for reporting traffic violators.

Road issues are always, and will ever be a hassle for us. There are some of us who cannot handle things like heavy traffic, road rage, and even traffic violators. Yes, those who, as described by many, are a hindrance to road order. We, most of the time, will post on social media, hoping that the government sees it and deal with these issues. Now, the Department of Transportation made a chatcot where we send our complaints directly to the government.

In collaboration with Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (i-ACT), they created a digital chatbot entitled “Sumbong Bulok, Sumbong Usok“, which allows citizens to report smoke belchers, traffic violators, vehicles that are no longer roadworthy, etc. via i-ACT’s Messenger account. The citizens are also allowed to send photos or videos, and identify the location of where a violation took place.

An article of Top Gear states that Arthur Tugade, Department of Transportation secretary, said that the success of this platform in helping realize the objectives of our Tanggal Bulok, Tanggal Usok operations will serve as a solid proof that if the government, its people, and technology are put into one, nothing is impossible. He further added that it will also help our case managers and resolvers monitor the status of concerns.

The complaints, once sent to the hotline will be processed by concerned government agencies like:

  • the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group;
  • Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board;
  • Land Transportation Office, etc.

As per the article, it says that it is now at the tip of our fingertips to ruin the day of a traffic violator.

What do you think? What can you say about this?
