Gary Valenciano Slows Down Performance After Two Major Surgeries, Admits Battle With Depression
GARY VALENCIANO – Singer-songwriter Gary Valenciano admitted he battled with depression after his two surgeries.
Edgardo Jose “Gary” Santiago Valenciano or better known as Gary V and Mr. Pure Energy is a multi-awarded Filipino-Puerto Rican singer-songwriter.
The veteran singer released 39 albums and a twelve times winner for the Awit Awards “Best Male Performer”.
Mr. Pure Energy experienced two major surgery a few months ago and he is now back to move on stage.
Based on a report from PEP, Gary Valenciano revealed some statements about his condition after his show at the Cloverleaf Mall in Balintawak, Quezon City.
The 53-year-old artist disclosed that he had an open heart surgery in May and had a kidney removal to eliminate kidney cancer last June.
“Minsan nakakatakot na nga, baka yung iba isipin na gimmick-gimmick lang iyan,” Valenciano said.
According to the report, Gary Valenciano also admitted he experienced post-surgical depression and it almost consumed him.
He thought of slowing down on his performances or he could even stop if he will no longer feel the enjoyment and happiness in performing on stage.
“Kapagod to. Magwo-workout na naman ako, ‘tapos gagawin ko na naman ang lahat para umabot dun sa dati,” Valenciano said.
Based on the report, Gary Valenciano was able to surpass that issue and he is now back on track but he will be slowing it down.
“Kasi bago ko pa maramdaman yung sakit sa dibdib ko, meron na rin akong mga thoughts na siguro, kailangan ko nang mag-slow down, “ he said.
Valenciano is aware that he has not yet fully recovered physically and he’s worried that he could never perform like before.
Gary Valenciano’s family and friends are surely praying for him to be back on his normal health and to see him happy with his performance.
