Rebels With Regards to Sagay 9 Issue Allegedly Supplied Guns, Ammunition by Congressman of Negros
SAGAY 9 – Negros Congressman allegedly supplies guns and ammunition to the rebels regarding the Sagay 9 issue.
The Negros Occidental is the Philippines’ major sugar producer and Sagay City is one of its main contributors. It is at the northernmost tip of the Negros Island.
Based on a report from Philstar, the Police Regional Office in the Western Visayas announce the death of 9 sugarcane workers in Sagay last October 20, 2018.
The tragedy occurred when a group of gunmen shot the 9 farmers, including the two children while they were having their dinner in a tent.
The police pointed the Sagay 9 victims were only recruited recently by the farmers’ group named National Federation of Sugar Workers.
According to the report, the police labeled the NFSW a “legal front” of the communist rebels also known as the NPA group.
The NPA denied their involvement in the incident and said the Sagay 9 farmers were eliminated by military men or private people hired by the landowners.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to examine more deeply into the issue.
Based on the report, Guevarra stated that the NBI hasn’t found any clear indication yet as to who were the perpetrators.
In a video recently posted by the Visayan Daily Star on Facebook, four unidentified men spoke regarding the Sagay 9 incident.
One of the four persons claimed that an unnamed congressman who is allegedly involved in drugs in Negros also allegedly supplies guns and ammunition to rebels.
He calls for help from the Philippines’ President Rodrigo Duterte to operate a deeper probing regarding Negros’ uprising.

Aside from asking for justice over the death of Sagay 9 farmers, the other poor farmers’ safety were still at risk until they catch those responsible on the incident.
