K-12 Program Will Push Through After Supreme Court Will Finally Declare The Program Valid
K-12 PROGRAM – The K-12 program will be mandated by the government after the Supreme Court validate the program into a Republic Act.
The Republic Act 10533, also known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013, states that the number of years of basic education was increased to include the following:
- a year of kindergarten;
- six years of elementary education; and
- six years of secondary education, which is composed of:
- four years junior high school; and
- two years of senior high school
Thus, this also legalizes Republic Act 10157 or the Kindergarten Education Act, which renders kindergarten as part of the mandatory basic education and a requirement to enter Grade 1.
The petitions that were filed against the laws were dismissed by the High court as they failed to prove that the laws were in violation of the 1987 Constitution and that the laws were enacted with grave abuse of discretion.
