Journalist Ces Drilon has this reaction when her youngest son Andre revealed that he is bisexual.
Ces only knew about this last year as Andre told her over a casual dinner in a ramen house.
Her trait of being an interrogating journalist did not work at that time. When her 25-year old son said “Mom, I’m bisexual”, she just answered it with “Really? Okay…”.
Based on the article published in The Philippine Star, Ces Drilon initially did not know what to say regarding that revelation of her son.
Later on, when she was asked if she cried because of the fact that Andre is bisexual, she said, “Never. You just love and accept your children.”
Andre admitted that it was not easy for him to get out of the closet as androgynous. It is a term usually used to describe characters or people who have no specific gender, gender ambiguity may also be found in fashion, gender identity, sexual identity, or sexual lifestyle.
Currently, he is in a relationship with a girl but he admits that he is also attracted to boys. The youngest son of Ces Drilon also engages himself in cross-dressing.
He loves to express his fashion sense in wearing skirts and his mother is okay with it.
“The first time I saw Andre wearing a skirt for the project, I didn’t think anything of it. I told him I had better skirts than that! He was choosing from the pile that I was selling in a garage sale in BGC,” the journalist shared.
In one of the Instagram posts of Ces Drilon, she said that Andre is the daughter she never had.
“I am so proud that here is my son, breaking gender norms. It is a gutsy bold move that I salute,” she wrote.
