Ride-Hailing Company ‘Go Lag’ Accredited By LTFRB

LTFRB Approves Ride-Hailing Company Go Lag’s Accreditation

GO LAG- The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has recently permitted the accreditation of local ride-hailing company Go Lag Incorporated as a new transportation network (TNC) in the Philippines.

LTFRB is responsible for promulgating and enforcing compliance with policies of land transportation. Ride-hailing companies can only start their operations once they receive their accreditation papers to be issued by LTFRB.

Based on an article written in Rappler, Go Lag will be the 4th ride-hailing business to operate in the country following the latest accreditation of Hype and Hirna.

As claimed in the report, Owto and MiCab are still waiting for an approval to operate.

In another article from Manila Bulletin, it was mentioned that the fast-track admission of the new transport network vehicles aims to stop the alleged monopoly of Grab, the largest operating ride-hailing platform in the Philippines presently.

During a press conference on April 17, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Economic Affairs Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian urged LTFRB to accelerate the entry of ridesharing applications, emphasizing that he disapproves Grab’s “monopolistic behavior”.

According to the lawmaker, many Filipinos are suffering from the said company’s recent fare surge. He also pointed out that following the end of Uber’s operation in Southeast Asia, complaints against Grab surfaced as some drivers are allegedly turning down clients.

“Ilang linggo pa lang nawala yungUber, marami nang reklamo yung ating mga kababayan. Tumaas ng almost 30 percent yung pamasahe, marami nang drivers ang tumatanggi. Ibig sabihin pang-aabuso na itong nangyayari,” he said.

Gatchalian further stated that the more TNCs operating in the country, the better the price, as per competitive pricing strategy.
