Duterte Accepts Paolo’s Resignation as Davao City Vice Mayor

President Rodrigo Duterte reportedly accepted the resignation of his son, Paolo Duterte as Davao City vice mayor.

Based on the report, a source stated that the Office of the Executive Secretary is set to release an official document which declares that Paolo’s resignation was accepted.

According to Rappler, the document which is said to be released by Malacanang Palace noted that his resignation is “effective immediately.”

Earlier, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque confirmed the report.

The Palace said that President Duterte had 15 working days to officially approve or deny the resignation of Paolo from his post, as mandated by the Local Government Code.

On Christmas Day 2017 (December 25), Paolo disclosed that he’s leaving his post.

“My parents never failed to remind me of the value of time-honored principle of delicadeza, and this is one of those instances of my life that I need to protect my honor and that of my children,” said Paolo.

Paolo Duterte cited that one of the reasons for his resignation is that after his name was dragged in the controversial smuggling of P6.4-billion worth of shabu from China through the Bureau of Customs.

He also pointed out his “very public squabble with my daughter.” Three days before Christmas Day, Paolo and his daughter from first marriage engaged in a word war.
