Meet Chinese Actress Crystal Liu, the New Disney’s Mulan

Actress Liu Yifie, also known as Crystal Liu, was chosen to portray the lead role of Chinese warrior, Mulan, in film’s live-action remake by Disney.

Based on the article published by the Hollywood Reporter, Crystal Liu bested 1,000 other hopefuls who undergo dramatic and intense screening to snatch the titular role.

The role for Mulan requires skills in martial arts and fluency in the English language.

Mulan centers on the story of the only child of an aging war veteran who disregards both tradition and the law by disguising herself as a man in order to enlist herself in the army in lieu of her feeble father.

Crystal Liu is not new in the limelight.

She has appeared in some of the popular films including “The Forbidden Kingdom” in 2008 which stars with phenomenal action stars; Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

She also starred as the opposite of Emile Hirsch in a period drama directed by Billie August entitled “The Chinese Widow” in 2017.

Disney has yet to release official poster of Crystal Liu as Mulan.

Mulan is set to be release in theaters worldwide in 2019.
