Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has been accused by the netizens of allegedly “prioritizing” terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain over issues in the Philippines.
Earlier, the 27-year-old beauty queen went to the image-sharing site, Instagram wherein she posted a message sympathy over the terrorist attack in Spain.
But instead of gaining the same sympathy from the netizens, she was heavily criticized by the online trolls.
An Instagram user with handle name @peebaubau said: “Before you’re Miss Universe, you were Miss Philippines first. Before you’ve become Miss Philippines, you’re a human first. How can you #PrayForBarcelona without praying for the innocent casualties of the PH was on drugs?”
Another netizen commented, “Walang pray for Philippines? May ganyan din dito. Why inuuna natin ibang countries?”
To avoid further criticisms, Pia Wurtzbach later edited her post.
Pia Wurtzbach clarified that she’s aware of the issues faced by our country particularly; siege in Marawi City due to ongoing clash between the government force and ISIS-backed Maute Group and extrajudicial killings brought by the country’s War on Drugs.
“PS Please don’t think I’m unaware of the situation in the Philippines also. #PrayForThePhilippines #PrayForMarawi”
According to an article published by PEP.ph, some thanked Pia for updating her post while others called on the online trolls to stop bashing the beauty queen-actress.
Meanwhile, an ISIS-related attack happened in Barcelona on Thursday, August 17, wherein 13 were killed and 100 were injured.
