Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice Pempengco, revealed the reason behind his new screen name.
The 25-year-old singer clarified that only his screen name was changed and not his real name, Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco.
But what’s the reason behind the singer’s new screen name?
“Nag-make up ako ng maraming names, pinagpilian ko. Pero yun lang ang na-imagine ko na pag magpe-perform ako on stage, all over the world, they will shout my name,” the singer said
“I know mage-gets ito ng ibang transgender people, na mayroon talagang specific name na pag narinig namin, may ganun talagang feelings. Siyempre, hindi sanay yung ibang tao, pero para sa akin, yun naman ang na-feel ko. Pag naririnig ko, natutuwa ako,” Jake Zyrus added.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Jake Zyrus admitted that he’s happy for coming out. Now, he’s closer to his dream of becoming a trans man.
The singer had undergone several procedures already.
Jake Zyrus earlier disclosed that he had undergone removal of both breasts in March, and had begun testosterone shots in April.
“Fulfilling yung feeling talaga para magawa mo yung isa sa pinakamalaking goal mo sa buhay mo,” Jake said.
“I feel very inspired din, kasi alam ko na maraming tao na alam kong magkakaroon din ng lakas ng loob, na madadagdagan ang lakas ng loob nila to actually tell the world who they really are,” he said.
