A suspected member of Maute Group who was arrested in Cagayan De Oro last week has been released by the Martial Law Special Action Group.
Based upon the statement released by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), authorities failed to establish connection between Gazim Mantawasi Abdullah, the suspected Maute member and the extremist group, which has raged war in Marawi City.
“Bale inano siya, ininterview, in-interrogate ng intelligence community. Walang nakuhang matibay na dahilan para file-an natin ng kaso,” CIDG Supt. Melgar Devaras.
The suspected Maute member was arrested in a raid last week along with his wife Monalisa Romato alias Monai and daughter Tahera Romato alias Kulingling.
The raid was supposed to capture Irene Idris, a cousin of the Maute brothers but she was nowhere to be found.
In the said raid, authorities were able to retrieve an M203 grenade, a blasting cap, a battery, a C4 explosive, a detonating cord and ammonium nitrate.
Abdullah’s wife and his daughter have been charged by the authorities with illegal possession of explosives.
Abdullah’s wife is also a cousin of Maute brothers. She has been alleged as in charge of financing terrorists after the arrest of Maute matriarch Farhana.
Meanwhile, Devaras said that they are waiting for the result of the investigation of Abdullah’s wife and his daughter.
“Dapat may nag e-execute ng affidavit to justify na cited sila for rebellion may public uprising, taking of arms against government,” Devaras said.
