Coco Martin Reacts on MMFF Issue After 3 Executive Committee Members Resigned

Coco Martin has reacted on the controversy in Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) after three members of its executive committee resigned on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Coco Martin stars in the highly anticipated movie, “Ang Panday” which is one of the official entries in the annual movie festival which will hit theaters this December.

In his interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, the Ang Probinsyano star said that his goal in making films is to give Filipinos something they will enjoy.

“Ako naman po, sabi ko nga, lahat naman po ng tao may kanya-kanyang opinyon, may kanya-kanyang panlasa. Mahirap po kasi magsalita,” said Coco Martin.

“Basta kami, ngayong napili po kami, dapat lang talaga pagbutihin po namin para mapaligaya natin ang mga manonood,” the award-winning actor added.

Ricky Lee, Rolando Tolentino and Kara Magsanoc-Alikpala, are among the members of the executive committee of MMFF who resigned and according to them, their reason for resignation is because the rest of the execom “took a different direction, by putting too much emphasis on commerce over art.”

But they explained that their resignation as MMFF executive committee members had nothing to do with the first four entries in the movie fest which was submitted on Friday as well.

“We had expressed our intention to resign long before the announcement of the first four entries was made,” they said in a statement.

Meanwhile, here are the movies that you should watch out for this 2017 MMFF: “The Revengers,” starring Vice Ganda, Daniel Padilla, and Pia Wurtzbach; “Almost is Not Enough” starring Jennylyn Mercado and Jericho Rosales; and “Love Traps #FamilyGoals” starring Vic Sotto and Dawn Zulueta.

The four remaining entries which will comprise the “Magic 8” will be announced in due time once the submission of entries is finished.
