Johnny Depp Sparks Controversy for Joking About ‘Assassinating’ Donald Trump

Pirates of the Carribean star Johnny Depp has sparked controversy for allegedly joking about assassinating US President Donald Trump.

“When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?” Depp asked the crowd at Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England.

“I want to qualify, I am not an actor. I lie for a living. However, it has been awhile and maybe it is time,” the 54-year-old actor added.

Meanwhile, in a statement released by the United States Secret Service it said that it “is aware of the comments in question. For security reasons, we cannot discuss specifically nor in general terms the means and methods of how we perform our protective responsibilities.”

According to Philstar.com, Johnny Depp was at the festival to introduce the screening of his movie “The Libertine” which was produced in 2004.

Last year, he became the talk online over his parody in Funny or Die of Trump’s book “The Art of the Deal” which was published in 1987.

Johnny Depp was among the Hollywood celebrities who are being criticized for apparently using violent imagery when dealing with the president.

Comedian Kathy Griffin was condemned for co-hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve special with some of her shows being canceled over controversial photo criticizing the president.

Singer Madonna was also lambasted for stating at a rally that she had thought “an awful lot about blowing up the White House.”

The 45th President of the United States has yet to air any statement regarding the remark of the multi-awarded actor.
