Risa Hontiveros Calls DOJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II as “Fake News King”

Senator Risa Hontiveros called Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II as “Fake News King”.

Risa Hontiveros was prompted to divulge such statement over the latter’s order to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate politicians allegedly involved in a “destabilization plot” against the government.

“Wala na bang ibang magawa ang fake news king ng Padre Faura? Namamatay na ang mga inosente at ang ating mga sundalo sa Marawi, pero ang tanging pinagkakaabalahan pa rin ng mga gaya ni Aguirre ay mga pekeng kaso at pekeng balita,” the senator said in a statement according to GMA Network.

“I will not be surprised if a case is filed against me or my colleagues in the Senate minority. I will not be intimidated or silenced. I will continue to take the floor and speak truth to power,” she added.

Meanwhile, Risa Hontiveros earlier made national headlines after she allegedly defended the ISIS-backed Maute Group that raged war against the government troops in Marawi City.

Just recently, Risa Hontiveros went to UNTV wherein she was interviewed by host Daniel Razon in the segment, “Get it Straight with Daniel Razon.”

The 51-year-old old politician was a given a chance to explain her stand on the crisis in Marawi.

According to her, what Maute Group are doing doesn’t fall as rebellion or invasion.

She was then slammed by some netizens including broadcast journalist Erwin Tulfo who lambasted her for apparently “praising” the Maute Group and reportedly calling the extremists as “epitome of courage and resilience.”
