“Nothing is farther from the truth,” the senator added.

According to the photo which surfaced online, the 51-year-old was reportedly quoted in a statement: “What Maute group are doing is not rebellion. I believe they are only doing what they think is right, this people has a belief, a conviction that pushed them to move forward.”

Meanwhile, Risa Hontiveros strongly stated in the forum that the “Maute group is a terrorist group” and an “enemy of peace and development, particularly the people of Mindanao.”

“What they did to Marawi is a terrorist act that must be condemned by all,” the senator added.

Based on a report published by GMA Network, Senator Riza Hontiveros stressed that Maute Group will hold accountable for the siege in the city which prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to declare Martial Law in the entire Mindanao.
