Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has been serving it’s finest menu since the 1950s. It offers its valued customers with finger lickin’ good fried chicken.
However, a certain Reinier Marco from Melbourne, Australia discovered a gruesome “ingredient” in the fried chicken he bought in a KFC store.
Marco told the Herald Sun that he was about to eat his dinner when he found at least eight maggots in his chicken.
“We called the store and then took the chicken back to them. The manager apologised and was clueless as to how this happened,” Marco said.
Based on an article published by Daily Mail, Marco was given a refund.
Meanwhile, KFC has released a statement regarding the reported maggots in chicken drumstick.
Here’s the statement:
“We are dismayed to see the footage but it’s unlikely this situation happened in-store.”
“KFC works closely with leading Australian forensic entomologists to understand flies to ensure our in-store cooking and food handling practices can keep our food safe. ”
“We hold our raw chicken below these temperatures and our cooked chicken well above so again, it’s unlikely this situation happened in-store.”
On the other hand, Marco stated that the fast-food’s claim was “believable” however, he stressed that he might not purchase a fried chicken from the chain anew.
“We just wanted to let the public know that this can happen and to look twice before eating food from a restaurant not only from KFC.
“We don’t think we’ll ever eat KFC chicken again. At the moment we don’t even want to eat chicken as that image of maggots is still very clear in our heads.”
