LOOK: Transgenders from Thailand Attend Army Conscription Wearing Skirts and Make-up

Transgenders from Thailand caused a stir after attending the “Draft day” or army conscription wearing skirts and make-up.

Present on the army conscription were hundreds of male ages 21-years-old. But aside from them, transgenders or ladyboys also appeared on the said selection.

According to msn.com, Thai law mandates that men ages 21 must participate on the annual conscription including the trans people. Thai government won’t allow them to change their gender on their ID documents unless they can provide necessary requirements particularly exemption certificate.

The transgender community had a six-year battle before the Administrative release an order on their compulsory participation on army conscription. This has resulted into frustration and outcry for transgenders.

“I’m nervous and excited. I am studying in the first year at uni in Ayuthaya. I am not a 100% woman yet – I have not had the op,” Duayamphan told the reporters.

Another transgender identified as Rusanan Reuanmoon also participated on the conscription.

“I don’t want to be a soldier. I want to be a woman. I’m not 100% yet as I haven’t had my extra bits removed,” Reuanmoon said.
