Latest Trend for Babies? High Heels for Infants Sparks Controversy Online

High heels for infants?

American footwear Pee Wee Pumps has sparked controversy online over high heels for infants.

In a report published by Inquirer.net, BBC sighted that the netizens are on outrage over their product.

The Pennsylvania- based company, which sells soft flexible stilettos noted in its website that the high heels are like “mom’s favourite pair of pumps only in a miniature size.”

But according to Michele Holbrooks, company founder, the shoes intended for infants who are up to six months old are actually predetermined for a different purpose. It will be used as a photo prop only and is meant to make the child funny yet cute.

Meanwhile a post on the company’s Facebook page early this week was criticized by the netizens.

The photo shows an infant in heels sitting on a miniature motorbike. The post is accompanied by the following caption: “This little #Diva, defining cool posing in her #PeeWeePumps.”

It was then flooded with criticism with some commenting that it’s “wrong” and “disgusting”.

“This is not ok,” Melissa Balinski commented.

“Makes me sick to my stomach, exploiting INFANTS……wow mothers are crazy,” Sienna Rose on the other hand noted.

While some are criticizing the latest product of Pee Wee Pump, there are some who find it adorable.
