The case was filed for the alleged involvement of the senator to the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison while she was still the justice secretary.
Senator Leila de Lima was considered as the most controversial female political personality in the Philippines. This comes after she criticized the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in his war on drugs in the country.
