Two US presidential candidates tackled economy in the final days of their campaign.
Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump aired different views on the economy of the United States in the remaining days of the presidential race.
The Democrat candidate praised the US jobs report released recently while the business mogul dismissed the report as a disaster for the country.
There are four days left before the elections on Tuesday, Clinton and Trump attacked each other as unfit for the White House.
At a rally conducted in Pittsburgh, Clinton made mention of the latest jobs report of the federal government as evidence of the economy’s strength.
In the said report, it was showed that there were higher wages for workers in the US. Also, there were creation of 161,000 jobs in October, while the unemployment rate dipped to 4.9 percent from 5 percent.
“I believe our economy is poised to really take off and thrive,” Clinton told the gathering in Pittsburg. “When the middle class thrives, America thrives.”
In the campaign rally, Clinton was introduced by billionaire investor Mark Cuban.
On the other hand, Trump disputed Clinton’s view. In a gathering in New Hampshire, Trump told the crowd that the jobs report was “an absolute disaster”. In fact, according to Trump, there were a large number of people who have stopped looking for jobs and are no longer part of the labor market.
“Nobody believes the numbers anyway. The numbers they put out are phony,” he said, referring to the figures released by the U.S. Labor Department.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos tracking poll released on Friday, Clinton has 5 percentage points lead against Trump.
In the said survey conducted on Oct. 30-Nov. 3, 44 percent of those likely voters gave support to the female candidate while 39 percent supported the business magnate.
For her campaign, Clinton wrapped up her day with a nighttime concert in Cleveland. It was headed by rapper Jay Z, who was joined by rappers Big Sean, Chance the Rapper, and J. Cole, and by his wife, popular singer Beyonce, as a surprise guest.
At the concert, Clinton said, “we have unfinished work to do, more barriers to break, and with your help, a glass ceiling to crack once and for all.”
On the other hand, Trump had his final rally of the day in Pennsylvania. He attacked Clinton for having her celebrity supporters. “I am here all by myself. Just me, no guitar, no piano, no nothing,” he said.
