‘Mega’ Rehabilitation Center to Start Patient Admission by Nov. 15

Dependents of the illegal substance can already avail of the rehabilitation services of the center in Nueva Ecija on the second week of next month.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government said on Monday that the mega rehabilitation center in Fort Magsaysay, Nueva Ecija will start admitting patients in Central Luzon by November 15.

The said rehabilitation center will accommodate those dependents of the illegel substance who already surrendered to the government amid the campaign of the current administration.

DILG Region 3 Director Florida Dijan said President Rodrigo Duterte will serve as the guest of honor in the formal opening of the rehabilitation center in Palayan City.

According to Dijan, more than 1,000 drug dependents are expected to be accommodated in the Wing 1 of the facility. However, the persons which will occupy the said wing is expected to reach 2,200 by year-end.

Wing 1 of the drug rehabilitation center was built by a Chinese contractor, and it is composed of six two-storey buildings.

Once the center is completed, the facility can accomodate about 10,000 patients who will undergo rehabilitation.

The official assured that the safety of drug personalities are guaranteed since the facility is located at four to five kilometers away from the main gate of Fort Magsaysay.

In order to make the facility fully operate, an estimated 250 personnel — doctors or psyschologists, nurses, social welfare officers, technical and administrative personnel are needed.

To recall, Duterte said in his speeches that he wants military camps to be a venue of rehabilitation centers.

In compliance with Duterte’s orders, Fort Magsaysay is one of three military camps identified by the Armed Forces of the Philippines where rehabilitation centers can be constructed.

Aside from the said venue, Camp Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal and Camp Kibaritan in Bukidnon are the two other camps eyed by the authorities.

Since the funds for the operation of the center is not included in the 2016 budget, Dijan said DILG Secretary Mike Sueno is still gathering donors and resources to fund the facility.
