Fil-Am statement – A Filipino-American (Fil-Am) man posted on social media describing the changes that happened after President Rodrigo Duterte takes office, now goes viral online.
Dave Jonathan Lamar, a Fil-Am, published a lengthy post that captured the attention of netizens of those who have the same views with the author.
According to his post, Lamar revealed that he was born in Lucena City and was raised in Sariaya, Quezon province in the Philippines.
In his post, Lamar has noted how Filipinos have changed the way they act on the government unlike in the previous administrations. He also expressed how the people responded to the present government.
“Ever since I can remember Filipinos have always despised the government, and for good reason. How can you respect a government that’s supposed to help and protect its people when they do the complete opposite? How do you respect your leaders when your leaders are the ones taking your hard earned money and just putting it in their pockets?”
“For the first time in my short existence on this planet I finally see people that respect the leadership that was elected,” he added.
Also, Lamar mentioned that he talked with common people and how they answered common sentiments about Duterte. He then pointed out that this is the first time that he saw a leader of the Philippines that is “genuinely passionate for his people.”
Lamar also called on the critics Duterte regarding the Obama issue saying that he would prefer the cursing Duterte anytime than the “clean cut, classy, and the more eloquent speaking Obama.
