LOOKING BACK: The 21 Filipino-Americans Who Lost Lives in 9/11 Attack

Let us remember the 21 Filipino-Americans who perished in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

On Sunday, September 11, 2016 is the 15th anniversary of the attacks on the United States of America which killed almost 3, 000 people.

The September 11 attacks, also referred to as 9/11, were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States on the morning of September 11, 2001.

The attack was against the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, and in Pennsylvania.

In the said attack, 2,996 people were killed and over 6,000 others were injured. It caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage and $3 trillion in total costs.

Of the total number of those who died, 21 of them are Filipino-Americans.

1. Grace Alegre-Cua: Worked at Chuo Mitsui Trust & Banking Company inside the World Trade Center.

2. Cesar Alviar: An accountant at Marsh & McLennan.

3. Marlyn Bautista: Marsh & McLennan employee who moved to Iselin, New Jersey with her husband.

4. Cecile M. Caguicla: Vice president in the corporate accounting department at Marsh & McLennan.

5. Jayceryll deChavez: An assistant to the portfolio manager at Fiduciary Trust at the World Trade Center.

6. Benilda Domingo: Was planning to return to Laoag City to marry her live-in partner and the father of her children, but died on the attack.

7. Judy H. Fernandez: Worked for Cantor Fitzgerald.

8. Ramon Grijalvo: An engineer who lived in the US for nearly 40 years with his family.

9. Frederick Kuo Jr.: Gave contributions to Community Church of Great Neck.

10. Arnold Lim: An analyst with Fiduciary Trust Company International.

11. Manuel L. Lopez: Vice president of the federal tax department at Marsh & McLennan.

12. Carl Allen Peralta: A broker with Cantor Fitzgerald.

13. Maria Theresa Santillan: A customer service representative with eSpeed.

14. Rufino Conrado F. “Roy” Santos: A computer consultant for Accenture.

15. David Marc Sullins: An EMT with Cabrini Medical Center.

16. Hilario “Larry” S. Sumaya: A technology manager at Marsh & McLennan.

17. Hector Tamayo: A civil engineer.

18. Cynthia Motus-Wilson: Head receptionist at International Office Centers Corporation.

19. Ronald Gamboa: A store manager at The Gap.
