Duterte Promises ‘Day Of Reckoning’

President Rodrigo Duterte promises ‘day of reckoning’ regarding the Davao incident that took the lives of 14 people and left at least 60 people hurt.

In a report by ABS-CBN, Duterte said that investigators are already pursuing the details and the people behind the incident that happened in his hometown.

Duterte just arrived in Davao City International Airport after his state visit to Indonesia and his attendance at the ASEAN Summit in Laos.

“It’s too early to be talking about it,” Duterte said. “It’s a matter of national security but I guarantee you: there will be a day of reckoning,” he added.

In connection with the attack, the President warned for similar incidents “because of retaliation, reprisals”.

Regarding the pursuit, his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has already raised the bounty on the people behind the Davao incident from Php 2 million to Php 3 million.

This has been done after an artist’s sketch has been released by law authorities.

According to the report, the main suspect in the incident has a slim body built, stands between 5’7 to 5’8 in height and is about 30-years-old. The suspect is masked as the artist’s sketch describes.

PNP Chief Superintendent Ben Magalong, in the report, assured that the masked man was the suspect behind the incident that happened on September 2, as testimonies say.

Earlier, the Abu Sayyaf Group already claimed responsibility for the attack and has warned for more.

Meanwhile, being the new chairman of the ASEAN in 2017, Duterte sees Davao be one of the venues of the meetings but, has said that he will have to (–foul word(s) removed–)s if he Davao City would be an ideal venue for the Summit.
