FINALLY: Duterte Links De Lima to Illegal Drugs Trade

Duterte finally says Senator De Lima’s name in connection to illegal drugs in public.

President Rodrigo Duterte named a female senator in public and directly said that she is linked to illegal drug trade in the Philippines, making her driver rich.

According to the President, this senator whom he said at the later part of the news conference, De Lima, has illicit affair with her driver and in fact, her driver’s house was constructed out the illegal drugs money.

Duterte spoke at the 115th anniversary of police service in Camp Crame, where he indicated that the senator who kept complaining about his fight against illegal drugs collect money from illegal narcotics trade through her driver.

“And here is a senator complaining. When one day I will tell you that her driver… who was also her lover, was the one also collecting money for her during the campaign,” Duterte said.

Duterte was clearly referring to Senator Leila de Lima, who served as human rights commissioner during the Arroyo administration and justice secretary during the Aquino administration.

“Here is a woman who funded the house of her lover and yet we do not say any complaint about it. Those money came readily from drugs. The intercept between Muntinlupa and the driver were far beyond, making sure that somebody was involved,”  he added.

”Here is an immoral woman flaunting — well, of course, as far as the wife of the driver was concerned, it is adultery. Here is a woman who funded the house of her lover. And yet we don’t see any complaint about it.”

Duterte then sounded like he would take back the allegation but still pressed on.

“In fairness, I will never say here that the driver gave the money to her but from the looks of it, she has it,” Duterte said.

Duterte said the senator once initiated investigations on his alleged links to vigilante killings in Davao City and the infamous Davao Death Squad.

“Before the press before entering the hotel lobby, she said I will prove that Duterte is connected with the DDS,” Duterte said.

“Until now, she keeps on yakking and she has forgotten about the tape that I have recorded. I would like her to eat it in my presence,” he added.

The Davao Death Squads (DDS) are an alleged vigilante group active in Davao City in the Philippines. The group is allegedly responsible for summary executions of individuals suspected of petty crimes and dealing in drugs in Davao. It has been estimated that the group is responsible for the killing or disappearance of between 1,020 and 1,040 people between 1998 and 2008.
