Cebu, Philippines – Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC). Cebu City Jail was known for their “Dancing Inmates” was raid by SAFF and Police authorities regarding to the President’s goal of cleansing the country on illegal drugs.
The inmates (Dancing Inmates of Cebu City Jail) was forced to stay and sleep on the basketball court of the CPRC for the surprise inspection of the SAFF in the detention center. The reporter from Cebu city documented the happenings during the raid.
One of the inmates said that he has no idea why was the SAFF was in their detention center when he was asked by the reporter. Unusual view was sighted on the area, some of the inmates was lying and sleeping on the ground floor of the court.
PIDEA Director of region seven, Yogi Ruiz, said that the evidences is undeniable that there is a lack of security inside the Cebu city jail.
It has been easy for the inmates to produce and supply illegal drugs from the inside to the outside of the detention center according to one of the personnel of Cebu city jail.
There is a strict inspection for the persons who are going to visit for the inmates inside. According to the interview, the inmates can easily sneak the items from inside because there is no inspection for the visitors when they are from the inside.
It was safer to them to use and purchase, for there is no inspection inside. The supply was much bigger inside than outside of the detention center.
The authorities are still investigating and looking for any possible source of illegal drugs inside. They said that they cannot determine the source for now depending on the latest observation.
A bunch of illegal drugs and drug money was found inside the jail. There is also gadgets like cellphones, charger pocket Wifi, tablets, flat screen TV, sound systems, and any materials that is strictly prohibited inside was confiscated.
Paraphernalia and other improvise weapon was also discovered. There is also a suspicious unidentified lists of names and numbers found that the authorities cannot determine if there is also a gambling happening inside.
