NHCP Objection Of Marcos Burial – A Record Of Fraudulent And Absurd

Objection of NHCP on the burial of Marcos at the LNMB.

Philippines – The National Historical Commission Of The Philippines (NHCP) objects the burial of the former President Ferdinand Marcos at the LNMB (Libingan Ng Mga Bayani). It is because of the record of Marcos as soldier that was alleged as “fraudulent” and “absurd.” Marcos was said to be the one who led the guerrilla force called ‘Ang Maharlika’ that fought against the Japanese invaders from 1942 to 1944, but the group was not officially acknowledge. There are a lot of raising questions about the claims of Marcos in his achievements and medals during the WW II. The history record of Martial Law during Marcos time is undeniable. It was announced earlier by President Duterte that he will allow Marcos to be buried in the LNMB. Duterte cited that Marcos is fit and is deserve to be given pantheon in the LNMB. There are so many groups of people and organizations who opposed in the decision of the president, but Duterte have already made a firm decision.

President Duterte urged that Marcos should be formally given a pantheon in the LNMB based on the “Republic Act no. 289 – An act proving for the construction of a national pantheon for presidents of the Philippines, national heroes and patriots of the country.” It is stated in “Section 1. To perpetuate the memory of all the Presidents of the Philippines, national heroes and patriots for the inspiration and emulation of this generation and of generations still unborn, there shall be constructed a National Pantheon which shall be the burial-place of their mortal remains.”
