Duterte warned the lawmakers not to dare messing with the constitution, back off or else he would shut down the Congress and have members arrested.

Manila, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte was speaking to the press the other day at Malacanang palace and giving a message to those people who are a threat to the aimed change. He is urging that they should not dare to mess with the constitution. He strongly advise them to back off or else he would shut down the Congress and have members arrested if they would try messing around. According to some critics, shifting of the government is not really necessary for the aimed change of the president. Critics are presuming that the reformation can be done, but not to suddenly shift the form of government that people might not ready to adjust in the new form of constitution.
He stressed “trust me on Charter change.” He appealed for the people to give him the trust and even lawmakers have been warned not to mess against the constitution. Many people are not convinced for and still hesitating for the plan of Duterte in shifting the government into federalism. The Senate and the House of Representative are setting up to assemble to work on the changing Constitution and in preparation for shifting that the form of government into federalism. The concerns on the con-ass mode of changing the Constitution, lawmakers will able to fortify their hold on power and advance their vested interest. But the President said in assurance that this thing will not be possible under his watch and appealed to the delegates of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting last Wednesday at Malacanang saying, “I need your trust.”
“At least, believe in me, I will be the last one to agree to anything there that would destroy our country. And even in the aspect of money,” he said. He also added that “Besides, we are all Filipinos. Why would I embrace principle that would do – which are against our country? Leave them, in the end, the outcome (of debates) will have to be submitted to us for a plebiscite and for all the time that they’d be crafting a new Constitution, I am here.” He cited that he has no ambition to prolong his stay in power but to do what is needed to be done in his term – to change the country on its rotting situation and to up lift the integrity of the government. “The only reason I won is that I carried the right message. I have to stop corruption. Now I’m telling you, it will really be a clean government,” saying his words of assurance to the people.
