Manila, Philippines – Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. filed a case against Vice President Leni Robredo. The Vice President was ordered by the acting Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) – Supreme Court to answer the protest filed by the former Senator. Robredo was given 10 days of receipt of summons by the tribunal to reply to the electoral protest filed by Marcos.

The Commission of Elections was ordered a precautionary protection to preserve the integrity of all election materials effective immediately. The defeated vice presidential candidate filed before the PET an electoral protest in provocation of the election of Leni Robredo. The tribunal was initially asked by Marcos to set aside the proclamation of Leni and declare him as the duly elected vice president of the republic of the Philippines. It was just a slim margin with 14,418,817 and 14,155,344 votes, as the official tally of the National Board of Canvassers that in favors Robredo and won the race in vice presidency.

Marcos filed the protest last July 29, 2016, Abakada Party-list Rep. Jonathan de la Cruz, political adviser of Marcos said that they already have enough evidence to demand a recount in at least 30 areas. The protest of Marcos includes 1,000 pages main petition, 20k pages annexes that consists affidavits and other files according to the report of Billing Pilipino.

The Marcos camp wants to nullify the results of an election in Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, and Basilan where alleged the big difference and inconsistency were noted. They also want a recount including the 22 provinces and five cities. Marcos is not satisfied with the results of 2016, May 9 election for the expectation of the win because of his vast leading votes during the election, but unfortunately it was reached and was overshadowed by Leni’s in a very slim margin.
