The incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines Pres. Rody Duterte already arrived in Manila ahead of inauguration today, June 30, 2016. The former Mayor of Davao City arrived in Manila from Davao City on Wednesday night.
The private aircraft carrying the President landed at the Villamor Airbase before 11:00 P.M. on Wednesday night. According to Duterte’s camp, the private plane left Davao Cit at 9:04 P.M.
Pres. Rody Duterte was accompanied by his common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña, their 12-year-old daughter Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, and incoming special assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go.
Before Pres. Duterte’s flight to Manila, his executive assistant Bong Go told reporters in Davao City that the President-elect would immediately rest upon his arrival in Metro Manila.
The executive assistant of Pres. Duterte was quoted as saying “Kailangan niya magpahinga kasi maaga bukas. Kailangan nandoon siya sa Palasyo at exactly 11 o’clock [in the morning]. Wala namang holiday so baka traffic. Kailangan on time nasa Palasyo,” he said.
Pres. Rody Duterte will have a busy day on June 30, 2016, the inauguration of the two highest elected officials of the Republic of the Philippines, the President and the Vice President.
According to the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Chief Martin Andanar , Pres. Duterte is slated to arrive in Malacanang at 10:30 a.m. The incoming president will then meet with outgoing Pres. Aquino to sign the guest book and for the departure honors.
Duterte will be the last to sign the guest book under the Aquino administration. The Mayor from Davao City will take his oath at 11:45 a.m. at the Rizal Hall. He will then lead the oath-taking of the Cabinet members.
The newly-elected President will afterwards step out of the Palace for his full military honors as the commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). He will then host a diplomatic reception, which is set to be simpler than the usual Vin d’Honneur. Pres. Duterte will also preside his first Cabinet meeting in the afternoon.
