One of the country’s most prominent lawmaker, Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., revealed that he and President Rodrigo Duterte discussed the possibility of working under the Duterte administration as Cabinet Member. Sen. Marcos hinted on the possibility of working as Cabinet member of Duterte administration after the one-year ban on appointments of defeated candidates expires.
On Friday evening the senator from the Ilocos region met with President-elect Rody Duterte at After Dark Restobar in Davao City. Although the losing vice presidential bet and one of Mayor Duterte’s closest political friend, Sen. Marcos quickly added he had no specific position in mind that he would serve at the pleasure of the president.
Working with President Rody Duterte would be an honor according to the senator, he also said that he and the outgoing Davao City Mayor mostly discussed Duterte’s priorities such as the campaign against crime and illegal d***s.
Sen. Marcos also welcomed the pronouncement of the 71-year-old incoming President Duterte of his decision to allow the burial of Bongbong’s father the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. The day after the meeting with Pres. Duterte, Sen. Marcos denied in a press briefing in Quezon City that he had discussed a specific Cabinet post for himself under the Duterte administration.
The senator from Ilocos Norte became a well known figure in the Philippine political scene not only because he was the only son of the late President Marcos but because of his achievements as governors of Ilocos Norte. During his term as Governor he was able to improve the living conditions of the province and became a model of self-sufficiency in terms of infrastructures and electricity through his various programs intended to help his constituents in the Province.
