The youngest son of President Rody Duterte, Baste Duterte gave a touching tribute to his dad during the Dutere Victory Party in Cebu City held on Wednesday night at the Cebu Country Club. Baste Duterte told the guests of more than 280 personalities about his number one idol, his father, the outgoing mayor of Davao City and the incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines.

The 28-year-old youngest son of the tough-talking Mayor of Davao City revealed how he admire his father as he became emotional on his speech beside from the fact that the admiration of a son revealed to the public with only a few days to go before Father’s Day celebration.
Here’s Some Parts of Baste Duterte’s Statement:
“When I was younger, gipangutana ko ni Papa — kaning panahuna ni, I want to go back in time — he asked me, ‘Kinsa imong number one idol.’ Dayon ni-ana ko, ‘Si Michael Jordan.’ Pa, I want to tell you now, my answer was wrong. Ikaw gyud akong number one idol [When I was younger, Pa asked me—at time point, I want to go back in time—he asked me, ‘Who’s your number one idol?’ Then I replied, ‘Michael Jordan.’ Pa, I want to tell you now, my answer was wrong. You really are my number one idol],” Baste said as the crowd cheered.
“Bisag ingon ani lang ko, I would not be the person I am not now if not for you. I have always looked up to you, bisag ingon ani lang ko, Pa [Even if I’m just like this, I would not be the person I am now if not for you. I have always looked up to you, even if I’m just this, Pa],” he added.
Aside from giving admiration to his father, the incoming President, the presidential son, Baste Duterte also addressed his fellow children of politicians and the youth as a whole and warned them against greed.
“When it comes to our responsibility ba as Filipinos, pag mouna man gud ang kwarta sa atong utok ug munaog sa atong kasing-kasing, pildi gyud ta. I just felt the need to share this to you because it is true ug mao na ang experience nato. Mao gani nagbutang ta, si Mayor, atong Presidente, diha kay gusto nato… We should move on from all of these, kanang naandan nato. Tinood man na kadtong mga youth, let us not tolerate this anymore [When it comes to our responsibility as Filipinos, when we think of money first and it comes down to our core, we will lose. I just felt the need to share this to you because it is true and this has been my experience],” he said.
Sebastian “Baste” Duterte is the youngest child of Mayor Rody Duterte with former wife Elizabeth Zimmerman, he was one of the few presidential son who became an instant social media sensation because of their commitment in helping their father during the May 9, national and local elections.
Baste Duterte also made headlines on social media with some of his videos went viral, he was also linked to a popular celebrity Ellen Adarna who posted some photos of Baste on her official social media account. The younger Duterte has two siblings, Sara and Paolo who will served as Davao City’s incoming Mayor and Vice Mayor, respectively.
