The now viral 35-second video clip which was originally uploaded on Facebook was the brainchild of the MMDA’s Public Concerns and Responses Management Unit and features the dancing prowess of MMDA enforcer Ricky Malimban and his brother Ariel.

According to the head of the said department, Goddes Hope Libiran, they want to take advantage of the popularity of the “Running Man challenge” by employing a similar strategy with the enforcers doing the “MM Shake.” “We wanted to promote the second shake drill so we started thinking of strategies.

Hope Libiran revealed further that the choreography of the “MM Shake” was done by the Malimban brothers who have been dancing since their college days. MMDA also noted that the now-viral MM Shake will not be performed by the traffic enforcers but also by every MMDA personnel.

The viral video of the Malimban brothers strutting to the tune of “Shake your Groove Thing” has already garnered more than 633,000 views and has been shared 8,900 and still counting as of posting time.

The second earthquake drill in Metro Manila initiated by the MMDA and other local government agencies as well as national counterparts aims to test the effectiveness of the government’s action plan should a strong earthquake – to be generated by the West Valley Fault – hits Metro Manila.
