Korean Gov’t Grant Philippines With USD6.6 Million- Equipment

Korean Government willing to give “full” support to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

Korean Government will grant USD6.6 million-worth of equipment and experts to Philippines as announced by the Korean ambassador Kim Jae-Shin on Thursday, June 2.

Kim said that the Korean government is willing to ‘fully’ support and cooperate with the President-elect Rodrigo Duterte with his fight against drugs and criminality. This help from the country will upgrade the capacity of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in resolving crimes.

The Korean ambassador said that they are planning to provide PNP with police equipment like patrol cars, motorbikes and other equipment to aid them in the law enforcement. He added that they are starting to coordinate with the PNP authorities regarding the aid.

Also for defense, they will be providing the country with more equipment to be used, “Two of FA-50s arrived last year in the Philippines and we will continue to provide FA-50s and other defense equipment as well,” Kim said.

Kim said that he already met Duterte. He said, they were able to congratulate Duterte with his victory. He said that they converse about the continuing cooperation between the countries, “Now we agreed already, we’ll start soon, starting from this year,” he said.

Duterte prior expressed his policy on boosting the economy by enticing foreign investors. That will only be possible if the peace and order will be improved. Kim on the other hand said that Duterte’s policy on peace and order will surely entice more Korean businessman to invest in the Philippines.
