Incoming President of the Republic of the Philippines, Pres. Rody Duterte said during an interview with the local media in Davao City that his official schedule as Chief Executive would start at 1:00 PM. The 71-year-old Mayor of Davao City is known for working late into the night when he served as the local chief executive in one of the country’s most peaceful city.
Mayor Duterte also noted that he would try to come home to Davao City from Manila as often as he could during the first few days as the President of the Republic of the Philippines. The newly-elected President was quoted as saying “My day starts at 1,” Duterte told reporters, adding in a joking tone, “Wala akong pakialam sa 8 to 5 ninyo,” he stated.
The incoming President who won overwhelmingly during the May 9 national elections against some of the country’s most prominent political personalities which includes Mar Roxas, VP Binay, Sen. Grace Poe and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
Pres. Rody Duterte also explained his preference to shuttle between Metro Manila and Davao City by saying “Yung kama ko is my comfort zone. May prejudice ako sa Malacanang… Talagang may mumu diyan, lima.”
Mayor Rody Dterte earlier said also that he would rather sleep on a plywood cot than spend the night in the centuries-old presidential palace, which he said was haunted.
Duterte said he would study documents placed on his desk in Malacanang thoroughly before signing them. “Unlike others, I don’t sign until I know what I am signing.” Mayor Rody Duterte also noted that he will do everything in order to scrutinize every documents he will sign for the Republic of the Philippines.
