President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed his first and major priority project as the head of the Republic of the Philippines which Mayor Duterte noted that his project is a sign of declaration of “war” against commuters’ woes. Pres. Duterte stated that in order to pay for trains or his railway project, he may need to get another country involved in the project.
The 71-year-old Mayor Duterte will prioritize the construction of a railway and needed to declare a “war” against transportation woes. He was quoted as saying “”I have to declare a crisis in the war against crime, and dito sa part of the commuter, trains and all. May crisis ako diyan. My crisis begins with EDSA,” he said.
The former Davao City Mayor stated that his plans for a major railway system in the Philippines is his major project and he wants a total of four railway systems.
The four railway systems will include the Manila-Nueva Vizcaya, Manila-Sorsogon, Manila-Batangas and the whole Mindanao which will be considered as the first major infrastructure project in the island.
Mayor Duterte revealed during the campaign period that one of the ways to solve Metro Manila traffic is to decongest the megacity by spurring development in the provinces. One of the way to do this is to improve interconnection of provinces through railways.
Pres. Duterte failed to attend the recently concluded proclamation as the 16th Philippine President, according to incoming presidential peace adviser Jesus Dureza. According to the peace adviser, Mayor Duterte will not attend his proclamation by the joint session of the Lower House of the Philippines and the Philippine Senate who served as the National Board of Canvassers.
The non-attendance of Mayor Rody Duterte during his proclamation as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines was due to his commitment to attend and receive his well-wishers in Davao City.
