17-Year-Old Gorilla Got Shot In The Zoo After A Child Fell Into His Enclosure At Cincinnati Zoo

Gorilla Got Shot De4d at Cincinnati Zoo

Heartbroken. Devastated. In Mourning. These were some of the words the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden used as they explain the de4th of a 17-year-old gorilla, named Harambe who were ki||ed on Sunday to save a boy who slipped into its enclosure.

Harambe, a 400-pound lowland gorilla, was shot and got ki||ed after the zoo’s Dangerous Animal Response Team got no choice but to shoot him 10 minutes after the boy fell on Harambe’s habitat, said by zoo director Thane Maynard in a statement on Facebook.

In a report by CNN, according to Maynard, tranquilizers may not have taken effect in time to save the boy while the dart has agitated the animal, worsening the situation.

“We are heartbroken about losing Harambe, but a child’s life was in danger and a quick decision had to be made,” he said.

Maynard also said that the boy crawled through the railing and fell into the enclosure just before 4 pm. In a report by Cincinnati fire department, the gorilla “was violently dragging and throwing the child” when they were called.

“It’s a sad day all around,” Maynard said. “They made a tough choice and they made the right choice because they saved that little boy’s life. It could have been very bad.”

The whole world made an angry chorus of criticisms who believed that Harambe’s de4th was unnecessary.

The child was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center with serious injuries following the incident, which was reported on Sunday.
