Mayor Rody Duterte’s closest friend Pastor Apollo Quiboloy stated during an interview with the media in Davao City that he won’t interfere with national interest. The spiritual leader of The Kingdom of Jesus Christ who were based in Davao City clarified the issue of reported rift between him and Mayor Duterte and downplayed the allegations.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy spoke for the very first time after he came down from a prayer mountain, the place where he prayed and fast in support of Mayor Duterte’s vision of change, he denied the reports that he was displeased with some of Duterte’s choice for his official family.
According to the pastor friend of Duterte for more than 30 years, he holds no grudge against his friend after the latter became unreachable since winning the hotly contested 2016 national and local elections.
During the interview with the local media in Davao City, Pastor Quiboloy was quoted as saying “Nauunawan ko kasi si mayor ay masyadong busy at yung mga pagkakataong iyun, ilang araw masyado nang busy at ilang araw din busy din ako dito,” he said.
In an earlier reports the spokesperson of Kingdom of Jesus Christ, Mike Abe claimed that Pastor Quiboloy felt bad after being shut out by the people surrounding Mayor Rody Duterte. However, KJC Executive Secretary Eleanor Cardona told reporters that Abe’s statement in recent days may have been mixed with his own sentiments.
The pronouncement of Mike Abe gave the impression that the KJC Pastor was lobbying for certain people and was dismayed after his opinion and recommendations were not considered by the mayor. In order to give clarifications, Pastor Quiboloy said that he would not interfere with national interest, saying he respects Dutere’s statement that “his loyalty with friends end where his loyalty to his country begins.”
