In a report in GMA News, Ray Parks already attended the first practice session of the Philippine National Basketball team on Wednesday at the Meralco Gym.

Ray Parks is a two-time UAAP Most Valuable Player (MVP) before he went to the United States last year in order to achieve his NBA dream.

“I’m excited just to have that Gilas label on,” said Parks as quoted in the report.

“It means a lot. To represent your country, to be the youngest in the senior national team, is a privilege,” the 23-year-old added.

According to the report, the coming home of Parks is in perfect timing as the two members of the Gilas pool won’t join the Olympic Qualifying Tournament as Greg Slaughter and Matt Ganuelas Rosser were injured.

The head coach of Gilas Pilipinas, coach Tab Baldwin said that they are happy having “another international caliber player” in the team.

He even noticed some big changes on the young player saying that Parks is looking “good and in great shape.”

Baldwin already handled the Parks in the Gilas cadets last year and says that he’s a better player than before.

Having played in the NBA D-League, Parks is noticeably more physically fit and became more mature in playing the game, the report includes.

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. was the son of the PBA legend, Bobby Ray Parks Sr.

Can Bobby Ray Parks Jr. contribute really well for the Gilas Pilipinas’ race to the Olympic Qualifiers?
