PNP announces hiring of 21,200 rookie cops
The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Thursday, May 19, 2016 that they are now hiring 21,200 Police Officer 1 as per approval of the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
Based upon the report of Inquirer.net, the Napolcom approved through a resolution the hiring of 11,200 new police officers for the attrition recruitment quota and 10,000 civilians for the regular recruitment quota.
According to Napolcom Vice Chair and Executive Officer Rogelio T. Casurao, attrition recruitment quota is intended to replenish personnel loss due to separation from the service or retirement.
The regular recruitment quota on the other hand is intended to bolster public safety forces in different police regional offices in the country thus to ensure peace and order.
Casurao said that applications can now be filed in 13 police regional offices nationwide.
Meanwhile, here are the qualifications for application as Police Officer 1 according to PNP Regional Office 9:
- Must be a Filipino citizen.
- A person with good moral character.
- Physically and mentally fit.
- Must have eligibility on the following; PNP Entrance (NAPOLCOM), Career Service Professional, RA 1080 (Bar and Board Examination), RA 6506 (Board of Criminologist), PD 907 (CS eligibility for College Honor Graduates).
- Must not have been dishonorably discharged from military employment or dismiss for cause from civilian position in the government.
- Must not have been convicted for final judgment of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude.
- Must be at least 5’4” in height for male and 5’2” for female.
- Must weigh not more or less than five kilograms (5kgs) from the standard weight.
- Must not be less than twenty-one (21) nor more than thirty (30) years of age.
The Philippine National Police is the civilian and armed national police force of the country. Its national headquarters is at Camp Crame in Quezon City. It has more than 160,000 personnel as of press time.
PNP is controlled and administered by Napolcom which is under the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and it is now headed by Director General Ricardo C. Marquez.
