Rodrigo Duterte proposes liquor ban nationwide.
Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte proposes liquor ban nationwide according to his spokesperson Peter Laviña. Duterte is still leading the partial and unofficial tallies with more than 15 million votes.
During a press conference with the media and ABS-CBN News, Laviña said that it is part of Duterte’s plan to get rid of unlawful acts.
Duterte planned to copy the city ordinance of Davao City which prohibits the selling of liquors after 1:00 am. This will be implemented across the country.
According to Laviña, the proposed law does not deny people with their freedom. But it has to be implemented because the business owners and customers have to work the next day.
“The reason he has this liquor ban (in Davao) is because we have to work the next day, all the (restaurant) staff have to work, as well as the customers,” he said.
He also added that people are not prohibited to drink inside their homes even after 1:00 am.
The said ban was implented in Davao City since Duterte saw that drinks are likely to be the reason of unlawful acts and road incidents.
Duterte also said in his previous campaigns that he vows to end the streetside drinking sessions if he becomes the president.
”Iyang nag-iinom sa daan, that will, tapos iyan. Iyang mga nag-iinom sa daan daan, p****g i*a wag kang magpapakita, sasagasaan kita. It has to stop. There has to be a sense of order, good order for this country,” he said.
