Duterte’s Family Linked To Smuggling

Yesterday, April 21, 2016, a consumer group accused PDP-Laban standard bearer Davao City Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte, his son together with his cohorts of being involved in an illegal rice smuggling in Davao City.

Duterte is currently the mayor of Davao City.

In a news conference, Perfecto Tagalog of the Coalition of Filipino Consumers said that Former NFA administrator Lito Banayo, Davidson Bangayan a.k.a David Tan and Duterte’s son Paolo Duterte are conspiring with the Mayor in the smuggling of rice and some other unlawful activities at the Davao port.

Currently, Bangayan is the same person called as smuggling “lord” the senate is investigating. This is out on bail temporarily.

Perfecto Tagalog said Duterte insisted that the man named David Tan does not even existing in Davao City, but when the said smuggler was arrested last 2014 by the NBI, Duterte changed his statement and admitted Bangayan existed according to Intelligence reports.

Tagalog said that Dutere failed to solve the case because his son is involved allegedly in the illegal activity.

Tagalog claiming as a former supported of the presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Duterte, and also a member of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, specified that the smuggling involves goods such as canned goods, used clothing, luxury vehicles and electronic products is rampant in the City.

Tagalog also said that Polong and his wife, who happens as the Association of Barangay Chairmen president in Davao, are popularly known in the areas for being the “lord” of smugglers in the city.

Tagalog also showed to the media the copies from the NBI and the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group of the reports involving Paolo Duterte and Glen Escandor who happens to be the son of a military officer and the owner of the Royal Mandaya Hotel and the Dasia Security Agency, in the said smuggling activities.

However, the Chief if Duterte’s media bureau, Pete Laviña, denied Tagalog’s accusation existing that it is another form of black propaganda against the mayor.

Laviña said during an interview, “They should have filed cases long ago. Why raise the issue now?”

Just after Tagalog spoke with the median, Rose Roque, a VACC member denounced Tagalog for using the VACC for political purposes.

The members of the group also denied that Tagalog is a member of VACC.
