Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s Comics Distributed by His Supporters in Mindanao

The tough-talking Mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has its own version of a comic book, but the comics is indeed different from the controversial comics of Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas. According to the camp of Mayor Duterte, the comics were already distributed by his supporters in Mindanao.

Mayor Rody Duterte’s comic book was drawn by the same artist who did the controversial comic book of Mar Roxas that received some negative feedbacks online after some Yolanda survivors disagrees with the content of the comics, wherein Mar Roxas portrayed as a hero during the onslaught of the super typhoon that hits Tacloban City.

Komiks artist Karl Comendador revealed in an interview with the media that he already finished the comic books “Digong: Ang Kanlungan ng mga Inaapi at Inaabuso,” which according to the artist, the comics was started last year, way before he was commissioned to do the controversial “Sa Gitna ng Unos” comic book of Mar Roxas.

The 10-page “Digong” komiks was written by former Atlas Komiks editor KC Cordero and Atlas writer JM Estrabela. The story shows how Duterte fought a criminal gang that tried to infiltrate Davao City. Aside from the criminal gang, the Duterte comics also featured a story of boy who received prosthetic legs from the good mayor of Davao City.

According to the artist of the now-popular Mayor Digong komiks, he is a proud suppert of the tough-talking mayor of Davao City who dominated not only the national surveys but also the political rallies he conducted in the different parts of the Philippines. The artist believed that Mayor Duterte can be an effective president.
