The tough-talking Mayor of Davao City, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte proved once and for all that he is indeed the man to beat in the upcoming 2016 national election for President. Mayor Duterte is slowly pulling away less than a month before the election as he dominated the latest Presidential Preference survey by Pulse Asia with an impressive 30 percent of the 4,000 respondents favored him to be the next president.
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte dominated the latest Pulse Asia survey conducted on March 29 to April 13, which was commissioned by ABS-CBN and the results was released to the media a day after the SWS Survey also showed Mayor Duterte as the leading candidate.
Based upon the nationwide Pulse Asia survey, Mayor Rody Duterte gained 6 percent of the voter preference from his previous 24 percent rating in the March 15-20 poll. The former leader of the national survey by Pulse Asia, Sen. Grace Poe fell to second place with 25 percent, downed by three percentage points from her previous 28 percent ratings.
Vice President Jejomar Binay came in third place with 20 percent which is also downed by 3 percent while the administration’s bet former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas ranked fourth with 19 percent which is unchanged from the previous Pulse Asia survey. Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s ratings was also unchanged as it remained at 2 percent.
The survey used face-to-face interviews of 4,000 registered voters. Based upon the results released by Pulse Asia, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte got 32 percent in Metro Manila alone and got a clear lead over his opponents in Mindanao with 55 percent. Mayor Duterte also led in the upper middle class ABC and class D with 41 percent and 31 percent, respectively.
