Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes, one of Liberal Party’s most prominent supporters, left the administration of President Benigno S. Aquino, the camp of Sen. Poe confirmed to the media that he will be campaigning for Sen. Grace Poe as president of the Republic of the Philippines. The confirmation came a few days after the news broke out that the actor resigned as cabinet member of the Aquino administration.

According to the announcement of the camp of Sen. Grace Poe, the actor cannot come out yet in the open because he remains to be a commissioner of the National Youth Commission (NYC).
“Dingdong has been very supportive, kaya lang hindi siya kaagad-agad lumabas sapagkat meron siyang National Youth Commission. Pero he has told me that he would like to support me,” she told reporters in Cebu City on Tuesday (April 5).
The impending resignation of Dingdong Dantes from the cabinet of Pres. Aquino circulated on various reports online but there’s no official statement yet from the Palace about Dantes real stance in the issue.
Although Dingdong Dantes openly supports Sen. Grace Poe, the running mate of the senator is not the chosen candidate of Dingdong Dantes for the Vice Presidential post but his opponent, Liberal Party candidate Lenny Robredo of Camarines Sur.
Dingdong Dantes is one of the well-known celebrity ally of Pres. Aquino when he ran for President in 2010. He was offered a spot in the Liberal Party’s senatorial ticket for the 2016 polls but he declined. Pres. Aquino also proved that he is one of Dingdong’s closed friend after he was named a “witness of honor” during the wedding of Dingdong and Marian Rivera in 2014.
