Government Vehicles Carrying Tarpaulins of Mar Roxas Went Viral

A black Toyota Hilux with plate number SKD 417 and based upon the color of the plate number it was definitely owned by the Philippine government is currently making the rounds online after it was posted on the Facebook Page of Citizens Against Crime, Poverty and Corruption (CACPC).

The controversial photo shows tarpaulins bearing the name of Liberal Party’s standard bearer Mar Roxas and the words “Daang Matuwid,” and according to some netizens, the photo was indeed a legitimate one, wherein a government vehicle was used for the administration’s candidates.

The same photo was also posted on the Facebook page of Cebu Flash Report. Some netizens commented that the vehicle belongs to the Cebu Capitol. Although some netizens pinpointed that the vehicle was part of the Cebu Provincial government, Gov. Davide of Cebu denied the claims.

Gov. Hilario Davide of Cebu Province said that hey had the plate number checked at the Land Transportation Office Office (LTO), and they found out that the vehicle is registered to the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Based upon the Omnibus Election Code states that that the use of “public funds, money deposited in trust, equipment, facilities owned or controlled by government for an election campaign” is prohibited.
