Vice President Jejomar Binay became the target of scrutiny among netizens and journalists as he was caught in the act lying during his statements in the recently concluded presidential debates held on Sunday in Cagayan de Oro City.

According to Ramon Tulfo’s column on Inquirer, the Vice President’s worst nightmare-accounting for his enormous wealth and being found lying-came true during the Sunday’s presidential debate. The reply of VP Binay to the question of where he got his wealth has created more questions because of contradictions compared to his ads on TV.
VP Binay noted that he inherited some of his assets from both his father and mother before he was appointed as Makati City Mayor in 1986 but the presidential candidate perennially mentions on various ads and previous statements that he come from a poor family.
Some netizens also revealed that one of VP Binay’s favorite tales is when as a 9-year-old, he watched his mother’s health deteriorate until she eventually died because they couldn’t afford to buy her medicines.
Veteran journalist Ramon Tulfo also scrutinized VP Binay’s statement that some of his assets came from his law practice but during the Martial Law years, he gave his service for free to clients who were mostly enemies of the martial law regime.
