The highly anticipated first presidential debates of the Philippines which was held in Mindanao. The Pilipinas Debates 2016 is the first-ever presidential debates which showcases their plans if given the chance to lead the country. The historical event is the first ever since a more comprehensive election was held.

All the five presidential candidates namely VP Jejomar Binay, Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Sen. Grace Poe-Llamanzares and former DILG Secretary Mar Roxas.
The Presidential debates was made through the effort and leadership of Comelec Chairman Andres V. Bautista and hosted by GMA Network in cooperation with Inquirer.net and broadcast live on RGMA Networks, Super Radyo, Inquirer.net Live, and GMA-7 Live TV coverage and social networks.
PiliPinas Debates 2016 was hosted by GMA News personalities Mike Enriquez and Jessica Soho, together with Inquirer’s chief-editor John Neri. The hosts were able to ensure the smooth flow of the program for their moderation and proper sequence of the question and answer as well as rebutalls during the two-hour event.
At the end of the show, according to some observers and based upon some netizens findings on social media, Mayor Duterte and Sen. Santiago won the first round round of the presidential debates because of their straightforward statement and honest answering of questions and issues regarding Mindanao. The two candidates were also poised and carried themselves better compared to the other presidentiables when under stress.
