The front-runner of the latest SWS-Businessworld Survey Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) sealed a covenant with one of the largest opposition in the province of Cebu, the One Cebu coalition headed by the Garcia Family of the vote-rich province.
The coalition of VP Binay and One Cebu’s gubernatorial bet, Winston Garcia was announced during a joint general assembly held in Lahug, Cebu City on Tuesday. According to VP Binay, if he win the presidency, his administration will put up a Malacañang-like office in the province “to take care of the people’s needs personally.”
Presidential candidate Jojo Binay also promised that the province of Cebu will get funds for at least one mega project per year under his presidency. The Vice President also noted that he will require the regional and provincial development councils to submit their recommendations within his first year in office to address the problem.
The Vice President also stated that the province of Cebu has been forgotten by the present administration despite its contribution to the national economy.
Meanwhile, according to the leaders of One Cebu, Winston Garcia said he and his supporters are confident that Binay, who lost to administration bet Mar Roxas in Cebu in the 2010 vice-presidential race, will get the nod of the Cebuano electorate this time.
The gubernatorial candidate also noted that VP Binay was chosen to be their presidential bet as he is the only candidate that had gone to almost all municipalities in Cebu, which has a 2.7-million voting population.
